Why voices?

Sometimes snarky. Often polished. Always authentic.

I’ve always been the guy that does voices. When I was growing up, I used to fall asleep to audiobooks every night, to the point where I could reproduce whole pages from memory, with all the different characters chiming in to advance the story. I acted all through school (often as the narrator), would impersonate the latest teacher (sorry Mr Jones!) and would speak to my friends in different accents every day.

When I then first started studying French and Spanish at school, I spent all my time pursuing native sounding accents, often to the detriment of grammar! This took me to Edinburgh University where I studied languages and linguistics, and after a short and unhappy stint in the corporate world, I found myself in the wonderful world of voice over.

From fun to serious, dramatic to human, creating those voices that you just can’t stop listening to is what makes me want to get out of bed every morning.
